This solution article will show you how to install a new hydraulic lift inside a cabinet without removing the top. If you need instructions for removing a hydraulic lift from a cabinet without taking the top off the cabinet, please click here.
Open and inspect the new lift assembly, you should see a wooden block in the back of the lift with a zip tie and/or a red ribbon. The ends of the cables should come out of the lift about 3". Keep everything as it is. Watch the video below to ensure your lift assembly was received in good condition.
Spray the back of the replacement lift assembly with WD-40, ensure the rod and spring move freely and there is no gunk built up, spray a little WD-40 on a paper towel and wipe each rail.
Attach the lift rails to the inside of the cabinet using the lower hole on the rail only. To determine which lower hole of the lift rail to use, line up the lift rail with the pre-marked holes on the side of the cabinet and install only the lower screw.
1. With your lift rails pivoted forward, start with the left side of the lift. Align both white glides onto the rail and nestle the cable inside the rail cut out as shown. It may be easier if you have a partner hold the left side as shown, while the other attaches the right side.
2. Align both white glides onto the right side rail, making sure the pin is on the inside of the lift as shown. Nestle the cable inside the rail cut out as shown.
3. CLICK HERE TO WATCH VIDEO Make sure both sides are lined up with the white glides, gently push down on the lifter so that the cables are tight as shown in the video, then gently raise and pivot the lift assembly into the cabinet.
4. Align the lift assembly with the screw holes and replace the middle screws on each rail first.
5. Cut the zip tie from the lift assembly.
6. Once the zip tie is removed, you can press down on the lift assembly until you hear the click. The lift will lock in the flatbed position. You can then pull on the red ribbon or reach around the back of the lift to remove the wooden block. If your block does not dislodge at this time, that is okay, continue with replacing the top screw on each rail. Once the lift is secured into the cabinet, you can further push down on the lifter to move it into storage and your block will have more room to be able to be removed. 7. With the lift locked into the flatbed position, you now have enough room to access the top screw hole on reach rail to replace the screws. Once all screws are installed back onto the rails, you can push on the lift to move it up to free arm (tabletop position).
With the lift at the top, you can now reinstall the sewing platform panel.
8. Place the sewing platform inside the opening and center it onto the lift. You can use the pre-existing screw holes or drill new ones directly into the underside of the platform. Make sure you have clearance on all sides to ensure the platform will move freely inside the opening. You can use paper, cardboard or anything to put between the platform and opening to ensure clearance all around. Attach the sewing platform to the lift using the 4 screws.
